2017 Wilburton Main Street Santa Photos & Wilburton Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade

What an eventful couple of weekends we have had here in our wonderful community.  In preparation for the events, Wilburton Main Street partnered with a group of High Schoolers for a Digger Forward project.  The young men helped hang Christmas decorations around light poles as well as set out Christmas cut outs on the sidewalks.  We appreciate their efforts.  Also, the city hung wreaths putting the final touch of bringing Christmas to Main Street.

Santa photos took place on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd.  Through the support of the community, Main Street raised an excellent amount over the two days of hosting the Santa photos.  This year was the most we have ever made on this event.  Thank you to all who participated and those who volunteered to help make this a successful event.  A special thank you to Talbots Flowers for the beautiful back drop and all the help from the wonderful staff.  We also want to say thank you to Tanner Killingsworth, aka ‘Santa’.  He is a Senior at Wilburton High School and attends Vo-Tech in McAlester for welding. Tanner loves to hunt, fish, weld and to see children smile. He has a wonderful outlook on life. He has played Santa for his family for many years. We were thoroughly impressed that this young gentleman volunteered his time to play Santa and even more impressed once we witnessed him in action. Thank you, Tanner, for volunteering your time to bring Christmas magic to so many children. You were wonderful! We hope we helped you cross that one off your bucket list.

We continued our festivities this past Saturday with our annual Chamber Christmas Parade held on downtown Main Street on Saturday, December 9. We are beyond pleased with the amount of entries and spectators.  Thank you everyone and Congrats to our winners.

She chose to participate in writing the essay for Miss Christmas because she enjoys writing and this time of year.  Congratulations to all!
