Wilburton Main Street is proud to announce the Business of the Month for October is Kojun Hibachi Express, owned and operated by Jun Then and his mother, Dji Fung Then, and located at 909 West Main Street, Wilburton.  The business opened on July 27, 2017.  Kojun Hibachi Express is open Monday through Friday 11 AM – 2 PM for lunch and 4 PM – 7 PM for dinner.

Kojun Hibachi Express is a family owned food truck serving Japanese Hibachi-style food.  They moved here from Philadelphia because they had a sister living here, Julie Lawrence and her husband Jason, and wanted to introduce Wilburton to a different cuisine.  They have been very pleasantly impressed with the difference between the people here and in Philadelphia.  The Thens’ want to thank the people of Latimer County for their patronage and for making them feel so welcome in their new home.  They have recently purchased the land around their food truck and are contemplating introducing a wider variety of foods into the area.

Wilburton Main Street, Inc. is proud to announce the return of the annual Relics & Rods car show and cruise night, set for June 27^th 2020. We are now in the fourth year of putting on this event. Relics & Rods not only draws in the area locals but car show participants from Oklahoma and surrounding states. Held each summer on ‘The Last Saturday in June’ in Wilburton’s Historic Main Street District. This event is a full day jam packed with fun, hotrods, rat rods, vintage classics, live entertainment, cornhole tournament and cruising down Main just like in the good old days, all culminating with an one of a kind show stopping firework display as we celebrate our independence brought to you by the Wilburton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The day starts off with the Relics & Rods Car Show showcasing a broad an eclectic mix of classes including classic, rat rod, 30’s- modern, 4×4, VW, Motorcycles and more. Relics & Rods has become known for the trophies we award and they are not the kind of trophies you will find at just any car show. Each trophy is handmade and tailored by several talented artists. This year, the “Trophy Buildoff” will showcase six competitors’ pieces and allow the crowd to pick their favorite trophy. Events and activities for all ages throughout the day including the Wilburton Kiwanis Club Cornhole Tournament, live music by Big Marty and the Dirty dogs, a Flame Throwing and Burnout contest, cruise night and to end the night with a boom, a firework display that can be seen witnessed throughout Wilburton. Whether your down on Main Street, watching from the comfort of your own backyard or if you prefer a more socially distant option, drive on out to Gary Rosebure Park and enjoy the fireworks from the safety of your vehicle. Cars and trucks from all over Oklahoma and surrounding states will be lining Wilburton’s streets. As usual food vendors, craft vendors, lots of other events to keep the kids busy throughout the day and many door prizes given throughout the entire day.

With the ongoing concerns surrounding Covid 19, we encourage all attendants to practice safety and guidelines needed to protect themselves and their families. Wilburton Main Street, Inc. is proud to announce El Jimador Mexican Grill is our Business of the Month for March, 2020.  El Jimador opened their doors on May 13, 2019.  Within the last 5 months they have added a fully stocked bar.  Augustin Romero is the manager, and he has thirteen employees.

Augustin was familiar with Wilburton and the surrounding area, and felt strongly that it could benefit from a restaurant like El Jimador.  He and his partner jumped at the chance to buy the corner location, went to work redesigning the interior, and have been very pleased by the welcome that our community has given them.  They are very aware of the needs of the community, and have been working to meet the culinary desires of Wilburton.  Recently El Jimador introduced a new menu that included southern favorites such as cheeseburgers, new kinds of hamburgers, wings, as well as the traditional and not-so-traditional Mexican fare of the previous menu.  The new menu has been received well by their customers, and if you haven’t tried any of the items on it, you should!
